I am a bio{medical} engineer with demonstrated accomplishments in novel health-tech developments. I concluded my undergraduate studies in the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) of Biomedical Engineering (Honors) program at the Department of Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering (ENTC), University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka with a First Class Honors (cGPA: 4.01/4.20) where my thesis was on "Developing a Deep Geometric Framework for Predicting Antibody-Antigen Binding Affinity" advised by Dr. Subodha Charles, Dr. Aravinda Munasinghe, and Dr. Kaushalya Madhawa.
I am aspired towards demystifying ”the untackled” in the health-tech domain and thus interested in the areas of Computational Biology, Geometric Learning, Artificial Intelligence for Healthcare, Medical Instrumentation, and Biomedical {Signal, Image} Processing.
I am currently working as a Research Engineer at the School of Computing and Information Systems, Singapore Management University with A/Prof. Thivya Kandappu and Prof. Archan Misra on understanding temporal dynamics of core cognitive functions through leveraging mainstream wearable devices, while collaborating as a Visiting Graduate Researcher at the Cancer Science Institute at the National University of Singapore with Prof. Yang Zhang and Dr. Jun Liu on geometric learning-guided methods for in-silico therapeutic antibody design.
I have previously worked as a Research Intern at John Neurobionics Laboratory, University of Melbourne under the supervision of A/Prof. Sam E. John where I validated different EEG-based source localization methods for discrete BCIs targeting people with multiple sclerosis and developed gradient-based retinal layer segmentation algorithms for rodent OCT images. As an undergraduate researcher at BRIC, I contributed to designing an EEG acquisition system for neonatal seizure monitoring and developing an AI-backed ECG-PCG synchronized device.
Outside my mainstream research work, I am greatly fascinated by the vast diversity of Astronomy, the strength of Entrepreneurship for a nation and the indispensable logic behind the Law!
